With the festive season gone and spring fast approaching, our dedicated Activities Coordinators from our care home in Kidderminster thought it would be an amazing experience to bring a little bit of the outdoors in!
Herons Park, our Gold Standards Framework nursing home in Worcestershire, welcomed two adorable Shetland ponies. The Shetland ponies were lucky enough to explore the specialist dementia sensory garden before heading into the care home to meet all the residents cosied up in their lounges.
They say never work with animals, however care home jobs always provide something different everyday and a bit of pony therapy in the work place is great for everyone involved. All of the residents and nurses loved the unusual visitors and can’t wait for the furry friends to come back soon.
Herons Park Nursing Home always provide a varied seven-day programme of activities for all our permanent residents and our respite care visitors. As well as pony therapy, there is dog therapy, day trips out to the local Kidderminster attractions plus a number of musical performance acts including the locally acclaimed ‘Poppy Sisters’. The friendly care staff at Herons Park are always trying out new and interesting activities to keep their residents happy and entertained.
